Epic Reads Dark Days Tour Recap & Giveaway

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Hey guys!

This past Wednesday, I had the pleasure of going to my very first Dark Days tour, which came to OKLAHOMA! Say whaaat? In case you didn't know, authors hardly ever make the journey to my neck of the woods, so when I heard Kelley Armstrong, Kimberly Derting, Danielle Paige, and Kiera Cass were coming...well, let's just say there was quite a bit of squealing in my house! Seriously the last signing I went to was a year ago, and that is just unacceptable! I adore meeting authors, and hearing them talk about the fictional worlds they've created and made me love!

As you can see, Best of Books in Edmond, OK was poppin' last Wednesday night. I got there about 10 minutes before the event started, which sucked, but the weather was crazy and I ended up getting off work later than I expected. Next time, I'm showing up an hour or so before hand, because I didn't have a very good spot to stand since I'm so short!! If only I could have made myself grow a few inches instantly! But thankfully, I could still hear!

All of the authors were SO sweet! I really wish there would have been more time for some of us to ask questions, but only a handful of us got to. I didn't get picked. *sad face*

One of the things that really stuck out in my mind is a cool myth from Kelley Armstrong. While doing research for one of her books, she found out that if you sleep with your pillow cases facing out from your bed, you'll have good luck. If they face inward, well... you get the idea! I thought that was so neat, and needless to say, I now make sure my pillowcases are facing out from my bed before I go to sleep. I can use all the good luck I can get!

I didn't really have anyone with me to take pictures, so unfortunately, I practically had to beg the girl behind me to do it for me, and the majority of them came out blurry. *moar sad faces* But this is one of Kelley, me, and Kimberly. Also, Kimberly had these super cute glasses that I really wanted to take, but she took them off before the picture was taken.

The one (haha, excuse the pun) good picture of the night was this one with Kiera Cass. I really wasn't sure what to expect from her after hearing about some of the author/blogger drama from awhile back, but she was incredibly sweet, and totes rocked that bow! She is the cutest, and she also just got a tattoo on her wrist of a tiara, because she made a promise if The Elite was on the bestseller list for five weeks that she would get one. We bonded over how bad our wrist tattoos hurt when we got them!

Also, here is another picture with Danielle Paige, Kiera, and myself. At this point in the night, we were all hearing about the tornadoes touching down all over the state. It was pretty ironic, considering Danielle wrote about Oz/tornadoes/stuff. I guess Oklahoma wanted to welcome all these first time visiting authors with lots of exciting storms!! Hopefully the tornadoes didn't scare them off for good!

This is a picture of all the books I took to get signed, which is seriously not all of them. I had others from Kimberly and Kelley that I could've taken to get signed but I didn't know if there was a limit or not. Turns out there wasn't, because Jan from Adventures in YA Publishing was there with a whole box of books! I didn't realize it was her until we saw that we had both been there from twitter. But yay for more bookish friends! I'm sad we didn't get the chance to talk in person, but we plan on going out for coffee soon!!!

I also got to meet Rachel from The Nerd Herd Reads, which was awesome because it was my first time ever meeting another blogger! She is super sweet, and if you don't already follow her blog, you should go check it out! I'm still kicking myself for not getting a pic of us together, but I'm sure we will be seeing each other again in the future!

You may be wondering about this last picture... well, it is all the SIGNED swag I got to giveaway on the blog! One winner will receive a signed bookmark from Kiera Cass and a signed sticker from Kimberly Derting. FOUR others will win a signed bookmark from Kiera Cass!
